1525 - First mention

The name of Rusliai and the life of the village

The village of Rusliai was first mentioned in historical documents in 1525, when it still belonged to the manor of a duke of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.

For a long time the village was full of life, crafts, farming and the everyday exchange of joys and hardships shared between neighbours and relatives.

1938 - The beginning of the homestead

1938 and the survival of the homestead

The owners of the Old Rusliai Homestead settled here in 1938 and gradually expanded the place with a granary, storehouse and other buildings needed for daily life.

The homestead survived war, the disappearance of many rural farmsteads and Soviet relocation campaigns because its owners considered it too precious to abandon.

Today

Stones, memory and continuity

The grounds hold a collection of unique ancient Baltic altar-bowl stones gathered from neighbouring villages during the period when old homesteads were being destroyed.

Today they connect the homestead not only with the deep Baltic past, but also with its own story of endurance and continuity.
